During the nineties, the world started to be more conscious of the need for alternative media projects and systems. These assignments were initially located in local geographic communities, but as that they grew, they linked about national and regional restrictions, supporting better mass media alternatives for all people.
A large number of countries all over the world are in the middle of a citizen-driven motion to democratize information and media. These organizations and groups show that it may be likely to create a multimedia system which is not controlled by the imperialist powers.
They are usually non-profit, non-commercial organizations that aim to enhance the quality details and information within their countries. A growing number of these networks are working with community members in lots of ways, including through the construction of new interaction infrastructures and mass media reform campaigns. They also talk with local, national and global communication change coalitions for social transformation movements.
The World Wide Web connects immeasureable individuals through telecommunications companies, but a sizable part of the people is digitally-disconnected or has been hit by recent economic crisis and perhaps have been hit by the recent economic climate and are unable to pay for internet access. This lack of access has resulted in the development of solution networks (known as CNs in French), which in turn provide inexpensive Access to the Internet through their own system. These CNs are a different group, with different models and motivations.
